Extensions causing problems with flash

Post by Jimbo27 »

Hi,

I have a very annoying problem and I coulnd't find any help on the web so I hope you can help me.

It started a few weeks ago. While I was playing a flash game on some website, every few seconds the flash window turned sometimes white, sometimes black, sometimes the game was displayed half its size and sometimes double its size and I could only see a small part of it.

Everytime it happend, if I scrolled the page up or down, or even minimize firefox and then open it again the game was displayed fine for a few seconds but then it turned white again.

It's happening in every website with a flash player.
It only happens when the mouse is over the flash player. As long as the mouse is somewhere else, flash is ok.

I always update flash and firefox but it's happening for several versions of both of them.

I though maybe I have an extesion that is causing it so I did some testing:
1. I disabled all extentions- that solved the problem.
2. I tried enabling extensions one by one to see which one is causing the problem. There are two extension that I enabled that didn't cause the problem to happen again but every extension I enable after these two (I didn't check all of them, only the few that are importent to me) will cause the problem to happen. So I don't know if except for these two all my other extensions are old or something and not supported or if it's a firefox problem.

I should add I use win 8.1.

I'm sorry for the long post, I appreciate any help

Thanks : )

Make a list of the extensions you have installed now.

Create a new profile and add the extensions back, but one extension at a time, testing between installs.

Thank you for your response

I created a new profile and I encountered the same problems before installing any extension..

That's odd.

Does the new, empty profile have the same problem if you start it in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

Yes, I encounter the same issues when using safe mode as well

Disable hardware acceleration. You'll find the setting by clicking Tools ---> Options ---> Advanced ---> General (submenu). Remove the checkmark from "Use hardware acceleration when available".

If you can't see the Tools menu at the top, hit the ALT key.

1. I disabled all extentions- that solved the problem.

I created a new profile and I encountered the same problems
probably caused by 3rd-party software delivering an extension - thats why Dan asked for the list.
