Pressing Alt+D and enter changes URL.

Post by lolcocks »

Hello,
Since the last update of Firefox I have been facing a weird bug.

When I press Alt+D (which is the key combination for selecting the address bar) the URL is selected and after that when I press enter the same page should be reloaded but instead the URL changes to some other page I have visited before in the same session and then that page loads.

I know I can press F5, but that will refesh the page along with the parameters I sent to it with an option to resend them.
I don't want that, I want to directly refresh the page which is why I use Alt+D and Enter.

Example:
I am on
"http://forums.mozillazine.org/posting.p ... =post&f=38"

I press Alt+D

URL gets selected.

Everything working as intended till this step.

Now I press enter because I want to refresh this page.

At this moment the URL changes to something else such as "http://www.Google.com" and then that page (Google.com) will load.

I just tried it myself using the same key combinations you described, but it just reloads the same page.

Try restarting in Firefox Safe Mode and see if it makes any difference. If it works properly in safe mode then one or more of your extensions is the cause of the problem.

Incidentally, you can also use F6 or CTRL+L instead of Alt+D to select the location bar.

A similar bug has been fixed in Firefox 53. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1334844

This only happens after you have run the browser for a couple of minutes, say for around 10 to 15 minutes.

Ahhh, thank you.
I knew this was not a bug faced by me only, I have seen school and office PCs affected by the same bug.
