Firefox update failed message.
Not sure where to post my question. Got message on Avast that FireFox 5.2 ESR update: "Something went wrong, and the update failed. Try again." I tried again and got same message. My system is old--Vista Home Basic 2007. FireFox 5.0.2. Maybe I should just ignore the Avast warning that I need to update.

Close all applications and reboot the computer.
Delete any downloaded or partially downloaded installer files.
Clear the browser cache (of whatever browser you are using to download FF) and the Windows Temp directory.
Shutdown any anti-virus software you are running.
Download a new copy of the full installer from www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all
Delete the directory C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
Run the installer.
Restart the anti-virus program.
