I'm using Firefox 53.0.2 (32-bit) on 64-bit Win10.
I've been having problems for the last couple of days on various sites, possibly since I installed 53.0.2 - the problems don't occur with IE. A typical site is the following. The box under "Loading Port Adelaide Enfield-New Adult Fiction..." normally displays immediately, but currently it just sits and spins.

I've had similar problems on other sites, all involving pop-ups or single panes of the page.

Added to what Brummelchen posted...

Plus... since you mention other strange things happening... do you run AV software... if so, what brand... and then there are these...
These are FREE ... you install them and just run them from time to time.
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
SuperAntispyware
AdwCleaner Download
Note: The above is for Windows so if you're using a different OS refer to this...From a prior post from Dan Raisch (with minor changes) ...
(If using a version below Firefox 3.5.) Clear the browser cache (Tools->Clear Recent History->select cache->click on "Clear Now" button).
Else... use menu path Tools->Options->Advanced->Network tab->click on "Clear Now" button.)
Delete any cookies relating to the site(s) involved (Tools->Options->Privacy->Show Cookies button).

Re: Weird problems with Firefox
Loaded fine with NoScript on but it did work in steps, possibly a slow load due to site traffic for the book titles which work like a slide show.
There doesn't appear to be anything causing an issue but I noticed a pause symbol in the upper right hand corner.
On your system is the arrow there? If it is click on it.
If you paused the slideshow maybe it remembered the state and left it paused?

Doesn't matter what you say, it's wrong for a toaster to walk around the house and talk to you

You can try to use the Network Monitor to check the file loading progress.
https://developer.mozilla.org/Tools/Network_Monitor
You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all site specific data stored in Firefox about this website.
If you have a password or other data (bookmarks, history, cookies, exceptions from this domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
If you visit this website then new data from will be saved once again.

Re: Weird problems with Firefox
Thanks guys, I fixed it using Safe Mode, then Refresh.
When I entered the Troubleshooting page, it was virtually empty. It didn't even say that the Name was Firefox, and the buttons for Refresh and Safe Mode were not there.
Not sure what caused it, my A/V and others are run regularly.
