Firefox will not connect to Comcast email. Receive proxy code 503. IT works without a problem

You may be confusing a service code.
503 Service Unavailable
The server is currently unavailable (because it is overloaded or down for maintenance). Generally, this is a temporary state

I just logged into comcast webmail with no problems . Check http://downdetector.com/status/Comcast-xfinity/map/ to see if there are a lot of reported outages in your area.

Sorry about that. I'm 83 years old and my fingers don't always move where I point them on the keyboard. ) When I switch to Internet Explorer, there is no connection problem. Go back to firefox and I receive a message Proxy Code 503 Bill

Try the suggestion posted by tanstaafl.

Also, clear the browser cache (use menu path Tools->Options->Advanced->Network tab->click on "Clear Now" button.)

Delete any cookies relating to the site(s) involved (Tools->Options->Privacy->Firefox will "Use custom settings for History"->Show Cookies button).
