Huh ??? What are you on about ?

Why do you call Firefox 'middle man' ? Mozilla = Firefox and Firefox = Mozilla !!!

And NO, Firefox does NOT determine what search engine you should use - that is totally up to you.

(Just so we're clear : I am not a Mozilla employee, just a loyal contributor)

@henke54, mightyglydd and brummelchen :

What does any of this have to do with the topic of this thread ???

MozillaZine should have what Mozilla has : not just a support forum, but also a contributor forum .......

(Even Microsoft support has a section for discussions such like these)

talking about "snoopware or worse" ->
In the summer of 2016, Google quietly dropped its ban on personally-identifiable info in its DoubleClick ad service. Google's privacy policy was changed to state it "may" combine web-browsing records obtained through DoubleClick with what the company learns from the use of other Google services. While new users were automatically opted-in, existing users were asked if they wanted to opt-in, and it remains possible to opt-out by going to the "Activity controls" in the "My Account" page of a Google account. ProPublica states that "The practical result of the change is that the DoubleClick ads that follow people around on the web may now be customized to them based on your name and other information Google knows about you. It also means that Google could now, if it wished to, build a complete portrait of a user by name, based on everything they write in email, every website they visit and the searches they conduct.

idd - you allow mozilla to insert ore remove or change any time testing condistions.
as some found out that not mozilla collects "telemetrie" but a 3rd-party and analyse it for mozilla. and some found out that a unique user-id is transmitted.
added: its called "adjust service"
correction - can not truly speak for testpilot, but firefox klar will do:
https://www.adjust.com/
[...]
"For Firefox for Android only:
In order to understand the performance of certain Mozilla marketing campaigns, Firefox sends data, including a Google advertising ID, IP address, timestamp, country, language/locale, operating system, app version, to our third party vendor. Our vendor must adhere to strict confidentiality obligations consistent with this Privacy Notice and our agreements with them. This data allows us to attribute an install to a specific advertising channel and optimize marketing campaign strategies."

@Happy
this is anyhow tech-talk in community. mozilla has the option to add or delete anything they want - see shield. if shield and other is not in final present, firefox loads it instant when online. and this is only one example, more to come!

Code: Select all

user_pref("toolkit.telemetry.enabled", "false");
to prevent such downloads.

still the underlying header" firefox loads silent extensions"
