Post by sajjansinghania »

I have latest Windows 8.1 & Firefox with Adblock Plus v.2.9.1. Adblosk was working perfect.

Left Strip on screen was disabled after installing Adblock Plus, but for a few weeks it has started coming back.
Please help. Tx.

Unfortunately AdBlock Plus has been a pain in many ways, lately.

Would you consider giving uBlock Origin a try instead ?

You're right - it's the best there is !
Thank you Sir.
My pleasure ! Enjoy !

I would disable it for now and see if you really like using uBlock Origin - when you're happy with it, then by all means, remove AdBlock Plus.

for a few weeks it has started coming back.
could be script inserted.
right mouse click -> Examine -> and look for a probably "<ev>" at the end of code lines - thats a hint for scripts and you can determine the script(s).
in most cases inline scripts or 1st-party scripts which are easily to deactivate with uBo

@Happy Sir,
I shall do as you advised Sir. Will come back if any other problem arises.

@Brummelchen Sir,
I normally do not fumble into system files. However, I was not able to understand what is could be script inserted and which file I should right click. I am a below average user. Kindly explain more.
Thanks to you too Sir.

BTW Can this application work on IE11, if not is there any way to block ads in IE11

Unfortunately uBlock Origin is not available for IE, but for Edge (which is the 'future' on Windows anyway) - so, if you could find a way to get Edge as your Windows browser :

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p ... wsignin1.0

But your main browser will of course always be Firefox, right ?

(P.S.: I am not a man ...... sorry ! )

Yes, you can use ABP in IE11. Here it is: https://adblockplus.org/en/internet-explorer. You must install it while you're in/using IE11.

AdBlock Plus : yes, that works on IE, but uBlock Origin unfortunately does not.

Do you think that there is a way for you to switch to Edge instead of IE when you're on Windows ?
Then you could use uBlock Origin.
We already established that AdBlock plus hasn't been doing all that great lately ......

Do you HAVE to use another browser, like IE, a lot ?

(and again : I'm not a man ...... )

First of all forgive me for my error. After I know your atstus I started loving you more. :)
My lifetime favorite browser is FF. Talking on other browsers, I use them as standby. I never liked IE11 so I installed Edge, I found it too complicated. I also tried Opear, where I dislike is, they tweak many things without permission.
All that I need is a second standby browser which i can use in case of any mishap. I can try any one which you kindly might suggest. Or can reinstall Edge and try to learn.
LU again madam Cheers.

Edge as a, let's say 'standby browser', really isn't all that 'complicated' - you'll soon get the hang of it !
Besides : with a bit of luck you won't be using it all that much ....... !

Wishing you all the best and take care !

(You are one of the nicest, sweetest OPs I have ever met ...... !) :D
