Plug in and script problems
On some web pages I get alerts 'stop plug in' and/or 'stop script' when using my Firefox browser. Then I get Firefox not responding and crash... What can I do to eliminate this problem? I much prefer to use Firefox.
My build is 54.0 (32 bit)
It does not happen using my IE browser.
thanks
Walt

Re: Plug in and script problems
Hi Walt !
As you are not running an ESR Firefox version, the plugin alert can only pertain to either Flash or OpenH264 and Widevine.
Is your Flash up to date ?
As for the script, would you please take a look at :
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/wa ... ive-script
Then there is the not responding issue (and crashing) : would you take a look at this article :
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/wa ... ive-script
Are these articles helpful to you in any way ?

Re: Plug in and script problems
You should always use the latest version (right now that is 26.0.0.131).wallythekat wrote:Thanks Happy

When you use this link, you can check to see if you are running the latest version, and if not : you can update.
https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
But I doubt if this is the cause of your problem(s), though.
(Flash definately needs to be kept up to date)

Did you confirm that you have the latest version of Flash installed? That's version 26.0.0.131 for Firefox.

Re: Plug in and script problems
hi Dan
Does the Flash cover both Firefox and IE as I have script problems when I attempt to download on Firefox.
See screenshot

Can I use the IE browser to download the flash version 26.0.0.131 and will the flash cover Firefox too?
I have no problems using IE
Thanks
Walt

Is there anything I can do to use the Firefox browser?
thanks

Re: Plug in and script problems
As you can see from that status dialogue, the Flash player for Firefox and for IE are NOT interchangeable. IE using an ActiveX version of the plug-in while Firefox uses the NPAPI version.
Since Flash is up to date, what's a specific URL where you see that script/or/plug-in error?

Re: Plug in and script problems
Hi again Walt,
Your Adobe Flash is up to date (it is installed on your system, and in the Firefox menu => Addons => it is listed as 'Shockwave' - one of the ONLY three plugins you're supposed to run, as you are not on an ESR version of Firefox).
So, if you still get this 'Unresponsive plugin' warning : have you gone over that link I gave you :
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/wa ... ive-plugin
When you get these warnings, what do you do : click 'Never ask me again' ?
You're also getting the 'Unresponsive script' messages : have you read the link I gave you pertaining to that issue ?
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/wa ... ive-script
Firefox not responding : when does that happen ? And you also mentioned crashes (?)
