History isn't keeping many webpages

In that doc. that LIMPET235 posted... on of the lines was this... Bookmarks and history are missing

...that doesn't mean both are affected... it could be one or the other...and in your case it could be that the pointers or ?? within that file (for History) might be messed up in some way. In that doc it points to another doc....

... it would not hurt to try that addon... but I would do a backup of your profile first.

...or at least copy (when Firefox is closed) the places.sqlite file to a safe place first before running that extension.

I installed and ran Places Maintenance add on. No help.

You all seem to be running out of ideas. I guess I'm going to have to remove and completely reinstall FireFox.

Did you try to (re)move all the places.sqlite files to start with fresh files?

If necessary then restore the bookmarks from a compressed .jsonlz4 backup.

The same thing is happening to me too. Maybe there's a bug in the most recent update?

What all is in Places? It seems like an easy thing to try.

Bookmarks can have something to do with History? Bookmarks are working correctly.

The Places file contains both bookmarks and browsing history... if I were you I'd make a copy of that file first (with Firefox closed) and then do what dickvl suggested.

Okay, I've renamed the places.sqlite file and it has been recreated. Fortunately my bookmarks are still there but the history is starting over. Because it was recording some sites and not others, it will take me a while to determine whether it's fixed.
