Very jerky vid... just looking for comments.

Post by dfoulkes »

I ran this vid in my pretty much trimmed Test-profile... Noscript and u-Block are the only extensions in there. H.A. is off ... I had to give up watching it in Firefox. .. BTW, I also ran it while that profile was in safe-mode... no diff.
Watched it in IE and it only had one very short pause....then watched in my portable Chrome... it was totally smooth in Chrome.

So, just wondering what's happened to Firefox.... just wondering.

Win7, 4gig of mem. ... plenty of free mem left.

Hi df,
You just need to cut down on the coffee. :)

Looks fine for a hand-held camera in a very shaky aeroplane from way down South. (Not in Dixie.)

I used the term jerky in error... in my mind and while posting this topic... my jerky really meant (run for 1 second, pause/freeze for 3, run for a second etc... during the whole run... and in fact much of the vid was missed because once it froze it would pick up again ... but later on in the vid ... know what I mean?

Just a FYI ... I took a tour in a B17 (not flying... just a walk thru) ... and did those guys have it rough just flying in it... very tight fitting.

EDIT ... I just tried that vid in my portable Firefox... no extensions... same problem.

Yes. I knew what you meant df.
Have you tried running the video a 2nd/3rd time?
Any other videos (YT?), exhibiting similar issues?

I didn't run it 2nd/3rd time... what I did was froze it, let it completely load... ran it and had the same issue.... not a big deal, but I was just wondering about it... and the fact that Chrome had no issues.

No idea, df.
If you let it fully load & it still buffers, then.....?
How about YT videos?

Didn't stop or have any interruptions once it loaded to the end.
Tried pausing when the panel showed at the bottom of the image and moved slider back to beginning to see if it would play while loading.
Plays fine but doesn't have the dual load feature you see on some sites where the play is shown separate from the load on the same slider; it goes back to start and stop once past the loaded part..
Might be, just guessing, the folks could only upload some of it at a time, it's about 22MB in length or there's some form of issue with the site?
Doesn't matter what you say, it's wrong for a toaster to walk around the house and talk to you

@DF video plays fine for me on Win10 x63, using win32 Nighly builds with HWA 'on' and e10s enabled.

I too got to see the B-17 over the last weekend. Awesome plane, and yes... not much room in there. I saw the "Madras Maiden"

Did that in all profiles... and for the most part YT normally plays fine.

I PM'd LIMPET235 with this link...

... I knew this guy... flew (I think) a total of 37 missions... survived, but some years ago he had to go to the V.A.... had a minor operation, nurse forgot to put the side of the bed-rail up... he rolled onto the floor and bled to death... Germans couldn't get him but our own people did... and that was sad.

Anyway, enough off-topic...

Just want to say thank you to ALL for the suggestions... it could be that my lower-end laptop can't handle some stuff... but strange that Chrome had no issues... oh well ](*,)
