Is followonsearch@mozilla.com.xpi adware ?

Post by moz8 »

Hello,

Just did a virus scan and got the following listed as adware ;

followonsearch_at_mozilla.com.xpi

The file address is here ;

C:\Users\Windows7\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\s4aphmxj.default-1445320282788\features\{87495b26-64d8-4819-9ce5-bdf7c6ee5d87}

Is that just Mozilla counting my searches or something dodgy?

Thanks for any help.

What sort of man would put a known criminal in charge of a major branch of government? Apart from, say, the average voter.

Malliz,

Cheers. So nothing to worry about then?

My Windows Firewall blocked something from Firefox the other day. Not sure what. Maybe a coincidence.

What would happen if i remove that file?

Thanks again.

Not too sure you can uninstall system XPI's too successfully and it will only re-install on the next upgrade

Deleteing it from the installation directory and maybe you profile should work. You would loose nothing but Mozilla would loose some data to base arbitrary decisions which do not make sense anyway on :)

CCleaner application can "disable" those unwanted internal browser add-ons. That way they will stay disabled while removing/deleting them is just a temporary solution, because every update reinstalls them again.

waste of time, money and energy into features mozilla wont supply. why care mozilla about search when they dont offer a search machine? co-op with whom and why?
i dont believe this simple "telemetry" lies any longer. mozilla did not care for ages, why now?
