I already have the Primetime Content Decryption Module. I checked all the preferences and it seems to be as prescribed. So no help there but a good tip.mightyglydd wrote:Maybe help here..

The Cisco H264 (OpenH264) plugin is used for Web RTC and not the HTML5 player.webber123456 wrote:Using https://www.youtube.com/html5 it shows that H.264 and MSE & H.264 are not supported.

Microsoft only provides the needed codecs for Windows Vista and newer for Windows users to fully use the HTML5 player.
Fx 53.0 and later requires Windows 7 or later now. Fx 52 ESR still runs on WinXP and Vista will likely get the usual eight updates so 52.8.0 ESR will be out when Fx 60.0 is Released May next year.webber123456 wrote:Can't update any more because FF says my cpu is too old.
You could look into dual booting with a light Linux distro such as Xubuntu or such with a light window manager like XFCE vs say Gnome 3 or KDE. Problem is many distros have dropped support for 32-bit cpu's as time goes on.
Actually if you have a older cpu that does not support SSE2 then that would explain why you cannot use Fx 49.0 or later.

It was added to Firefox as a standard plugin for the Pocket feature, not used for YouTube or any other video presentations.webber123456 wrote:Using https://www.youtube.com/html5 it shows that H.264 and MSE & H.264 are not supported.

You don't on WinXP - you need a newer version of Windows - Win7 or higher.
Used for Digital Rights Management (DRM) content.I already have the Primetime Content Decryption Module.

.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Mine has wandered off and I'm out looking for it.

Primetime is not just just for DRM, it also contains h264 and AAC decoders that can be used on Windows XP for non-DRM content. That thread mightyglydd linked to has a link to another forum where people have done this successfully. It should still work according to the info provided there, so if it doesn't for webber123456, he must not have done all the required steps, though he claims he did. I don't have any WinXP install, so I can't test myself.the-edmeister wrote:Used for Digital Rights Management (DRM) content.

I tried a new profile but there was no difference.

I discovered that Primetime Content Decryption Module plugin need SSE2 , so if CPU doesn't support SSE2 it can't work .
Is there any way to get my version of FireFox to play HTML5 videos on YouTube ?

I found a chromium based browser which gives me all the video formats on YouTube. It's called "The World". So far it works with my old system just fine.webber123456 wrote:I discovered that Primetime Content Decryption Module plugin need SSE2 , so if CPU doesn't support SSE2 it can't work .

Yes, the name is "TheWorld". It's one word, not two, as I originally posted. Works for me.

I did not mean to step-on-your-post but often when someone finds a solution they 'disappear'.
Have a good day.

Hmm.. depending where you go, "TheWorld" Browser is either IE based https://theworld-browser.en.softonic.com/ or Chromium based: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/B ... wser.shtml
Anyway...
