Upgrade Flash
Would Flash 26 be alright for Firefox and Windows XP or do I need to lower? Currently Flash 17 and Firefox won't let me upgrade to Flash 18, so not sure which version to do.

Re: Upgrade Flash
I'm currently running Flash 26.0.0.137 on my WinXP Pro SP3 laptop without any trouble.Ryosagi wrote:Would Flash 26 be alright for Firefox and Windows XP or do I need to lower? Currently Flash 17 and Firefox won't let me upgrade to Flash 18, so not sure which version to do.
Uninstall Flash through Windows Add and Remove Programs.
Or use the Flash Player uninstaller here:
https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/f ... player.exe
Download the latest Flash here:
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/fl ... player.exe
Run the installer to install the latest version (26.0.0.151)

Re: Upgrade Flash
I had a series of installation failures shortly ago and found this from another experiencing similar problems.
At this link top of the page will check for the latest version and inform you what it is.
At the bottom of the page you can download the full installer NPAPI and PPAPI (for Chrome and Opera) which is what I prefer for better control.

Looks like the second link points to the same file of 19.7 MB.

+ 1 Bruce.
That's the page that I always recommend.
For those interested, look under > "Still having problems?" section.
I always run their Un-installer first though with everything that uses Flash, closed.
Then run the necessary installers.

Re: Upgrade Flash
Yes close everything. The uninstaller & installer won't proceed with any program running that uses flash.
They really need to marry up these on a common page:
Run first -- uninstaller:
https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb ... ninstaller
The run the installer NPAPI or PPAPI at bottom of page:
https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb ... ndows.html

Re: Upgrade Flash
Installation went well. Flash seems to be working alright. But I'm having a problem with Firefox in general always freezing or hanging and seems to have gotten a bit worst. I tried to restart, but that just freezes the computer. Tried uping the time for the unresponsive pop, still have problems. Experimented with extensions and still the issue.
I might have to downgrade to a version that's more lighter to use, perhaps?

Flash is about 20 years old. Do you think we'll still have Flash problems after the next 20 years? Grandson of Flash.

Re: Upgrade Flash
Got it to go somewhat smoothly. Had to uncheck hardware acceleration for Flash and Firefox along with giving 1000 time for the unresponsive pop up.
