Firefox is always freezing and sucking the life out of my hard drive performance and cpu, then and after waiting for what seams like forever a message will pop up asking to stop an unresponsive script and every time it pops up the script link begins with "chrome://"...
SO AGGRAVATING!
My question is how do i globally deny any and all links and scripts in reference to "chrome://"?
I do not have chrome on my pc or want anything to do with chrome, so why would firefox even have anything to do with trying to load referencing to chrome?
Please Please Please Help!
I do not care if it makes certain functions work, ive tried "ad block plus" and "no script" and it made no difference.
I have a quadcore 2.2ghz and a sata II harddrive and 8gb ram so I dont see this having anything to do with these issues.
Thank you for any and all help!

Re: NEED TO GLOBALLY DISABLE ALL "chrome://" LINKS
It has nothing to do with Google's Chrome browser and instead refers to elements in Firefox that can be used to change the way Mozilla applications' interfaces look.I do not have chrome on my pc or want anything to do with chrome, so why would firefox even have anything to do with trying to load referencing to chrome?
Have you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
If no improvement using Safe Mode, do you have the same problem if you create a new profile and test it with no extensions or non-default themes installed?

Can you provide a complete message when this happens?
Can you provide a link to a site where this happens?

Re: NEED TO GLOBALLY DISABLE ALL "chrome://" LINKS
Thank you all for the quick replies and assistance.
I did try safe mode as well, but one thing i forgot to mention was this is a fresh install of windows 10 and firefox and have all windows updates applied as well, no other programs are even installed yet just the base windows and latest version of firefox with most recent flash player + most recent java and then just recently installed "ad block plus" and "no script" after I started having problems.
This problem has happened on almost half the sites I visit at random it seams like, even some sites will have a problem and sometimes they wont, but this is many sites it happens on, and when it dose happen ill have to wait many minutes for it to popup and unfreeze or go in task manager and force close and reopen, some sites also will load most of the way then lock up so sometimes I can hit the stop loading button and save it from loading the rest once i have the content im looking for.
I will investigate the: "http://kb.mozillazine.org/UserChrome.css" and also try to screen shot the script message when it happens.
thanks again for everyones input

Java hasn't been supported on Firefox since version 52.
Also, are you sure you installed the 64-bit version of Firefox rather than the 32-bit flavor? Go to Help ---> About Firefox to check.
In case you need it here's the link to the 64-bit version (second column) : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/o ... tions/all/

The web browser we know as Firefox started Sept 2002 as Phoenix 0.1 (then later Firebird then as Firefox at version 0.8). While the Google Chrome browser was Released six years later Sept 2, 2008. Even then the Chrome urls existed in Mozilla products for a decade plus before Google Chrome.codejammer007 wrote:My question is how do i globally deny any and all links and scripts in reference to "chrome://"?

The userChrome.css is not really related to the Chrome urls though, it is used to say change the interface appearance of Firefox.Reflective wrote:Java hasn't been supported on Firefox since version 52.

The Java and other Plugins besides Flash Player has not been allowed to run in Firefox Releases since 51.0. The Firefox 52.0 ESR does allow other Plugins to run however for Win64 only the 64-bit Flash Player and Silverlight is allowed as was case since Fx 43.0. Windows users need to use 32-bit Firefox 52 ESR and 32-bit Plugins to use other Plugins like Java.

chrome - Computer Definition
The window borders, scroll bars and other user interface elements in an application. For example, "standard Windows chrome" refers to the regular user interface in Windows rather than a different appearance via a third-party enhancement. The term harks back to the chrome strips on cars, which in past decades were used to enhance the vehicle's appearance.

Unresponsive Script Warning
In any case, you would think you should not be running into such issues.
