Youtube High Definition w/WinXP FF 52.3

Post by lacene »

Just a heads up more than anything. The Youtube High Definition extension for Firefox using Windows XP was working previously, but made viewing youtube videos difficult with Windows XP 32-bit because it either stalled playback or prevent playback entirely. I would fix it by removing the aspect of HD and "dumbing down" video resolution to 480. Then FirefoxESR auto-updated to 52.3, and now I find the HD extension automatically changes back from the selected 480p to "High Resolution" seconds after I try to dumb it down. The video playback works fine as long as the vids are not in HD, so I just disabled the extension. I guess they may update the extension to work better with FF 52.3, or perhaps they wont....

Youtube is not using the fallback Flash Player anymore since end of July and WinXP does not fully support HTML5 Player due to Microsoft only supporting Windows Vista and later with media features pack codecs.
