My browser now opens in a new web page

Hello,

until recently, when I clicked on a link on a website, my Firefox browser would either open a new tab or just stay on the same tab. But now when I click on a link my browser opens a completely new webpage. Are there any settings that I can adjust so that this doesn't happen?

Copy/paste the following into the location bar and hit Enter: about:preferences#general

In the Tab menu checkmark the box where it reads "Open new windows in a new tab instead".
