Hello,

I have recently updated firefox from 55 and in doing so broke my pentadactyl addon as its all web extentions now. I had known this would eventually happen , however I had lost track of time and not really looked in to a replacement recently.

Does anyone know of any webextention based addons that will be able to provide functionality similiar to Vimporator / Pentadactyl or if any are in the pipeline?
Its kinda a deal breaker for me as It now seems so slow and unproductive to be using a mouse to operate this page. I thought I would check before uninstalling firefox and moving on instead of delaying the inevitable.

Kind Regards,
Ben

Hello,

Thanks for the quick responce. I did check the addons. Unfotunately all these seem to be held back by the current web extentions api.
I did look again after your post and found Tridactyl that I had not seen before. On its site it advised using firefox ESR with vimporator for full functionality. It also stated they are working with firefox on improvements to the WebExtension API. Using ESR should be sufficient for now. Hopefully things will of improved when the ESR reaches end of life.

Kind Regards,
Ben

pendactyl has been abandonned 2014 (last update)

vim is EOL
NOTE: Vimperator will stop functioning with Firefox 57!

Firefox 57 will change its add-on ecosystem to be exclusively based on WebExtensions. While this offers (some) compatibility with extensions written for Chrome and Microsoft Edge, it removes the possibility to do many advanced stuff which Vimperator does. Additionally, it would require a full rewrite of Vimperator, which nobody has volunteered for. Therefore we will stop supporting any Firefox version later than Firefox 56. Head over to our GitHub page for a list of alternatives or a detailed discussion.

but while vim is dead its possible for cVim to exists although code share may possible
