You can get a temporary respite by switching to the ESR version.

I, too, would like to downgrade my Firefox. They have ruined a previously great browser. faster? Nope. Much slower as most of my extentions are gone (Find a replacement option found 1. Just 1 replacement), my bookmarks no longer fit across the screen, the entire bottom toolbar is gone, and msot other toolbars are in weird places.
