FF 57 favourite Add-ons gone
It seems that in FF 57 the following no longer exist:
newsfox replacement for firefox 57.0
interclue replacement for firefox 57.0
extension list dumper 2
FEBE
LinkChecker
OPIE2
Password Exporter
I downloaded some add-ons to replace my other old ones but can’t find a way to put them on the menu bar at the top of the window. Their icons are not in the menu when I open it. And, yes, I did close and restart FF after I added them, LOL.
Also, is there a way to make the file icons in my bookmarks colorful as I don’t like the greyed out way they look.
At the top of any browser window are listed:
File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help
But, even after changing the Theme they still appear grey and can hardly be read.
Nor do the tabs have any colour even though I use ColorfulTabs.
I think it might be time to change to Pale Moon after years of using FF which will be a shame, but they're finally messed it up too much for me. Unless, someone can help with any advice.
I'll be back on-line later tomorrow.
Many thanks.

You can replace FEBE with any backup program for Windows. I use an old free one, Karen's Replicator, just to back up my FF and TB profiles to a flash drive nightly, but there are loads of others on the web. I think Windows has one too.
Colorful Tabs has a new 57-compatible version.
You can use FF 52ESR and keep your extensions till the summer of 2018. At that time, there might be lots more replacements and extensions converted into WebExtensions. The current version is 52.5.0.

You don't need any backup program to do that. Windows Explorer is sufficient if you know the location of the profile or rather respective data.LoveMyFoxy wrote:You can replace FEBE with any backup program for Windows. True, but a backup program can run automatically on a schedule.

Re: FF 57 favourite Add-ons gone
newsfox -> feedbro (currently the best, not sure if the only)
interclue - dead/abandonned since 2011, searc for another link preview
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... ppver=57.0
extension list dumper -> about:support
febe/opie - no longer allowed in that working way.
as suggested use a decent backup from outside firefox -> %appdata%\mozilla
Password Exporter - same, not allowed
ColorfulTabs - same, not allowed (maybe later)
>> is there a way to make the file icons in my bookmarks colorful
userchrome.css (only this way round)
>> to change to Pale Moon
no one here cares about, we are helping for firefox only. good luck

Very many thanks for all the replies and suggestions, I’ll check some of them out. Re: FF 52ESR I’m not sure what that is or where to find it.

That's what search engines are for:
from a Google search - https://www.google.com/search?q=FF+52ES ... f-8num=100
A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Mine has wandered off and I'm out looking for it.

Yes, the-edmeister, I know. But, as a poorly sighted, disabled, senior citizen it's so much more helpful when people can just give you a direct quick link rather than having to search around in Google.
