Post by ban666 »

How do I disable the cache completely (images, temp, etc) in Firefox quantum?

Have you tried menu path Tools->Options->Privacy & Security->Cached web content->Select "Override automatic cache management" and then set the value for "Limit cache to" to zero.

Thank you! So this will prevent and cached images from being saved to disk?

That seems to be what those settings would provide but I don't use them so I can't offer any guarantees.

Why not simply use the private browing feature?

That says not saved, but that does not imply not created, if that was the intent.

Not sure, but note that disabling cache may not disable "cached" items outside of /cache/, like what may happen when viewing a movie or when you "open" a pdf link into an external viewer.

Can cache be disabled for those situations? I don't think so but don't have proof.

reading pdf in external viewer always need download, either fixed or temporary. even the online option for pdf is loading files to disk, but the trunks are smaller, dont load the whole file. same is valid for firefox.
