52.5.0 ESR to 57.0

Post by Bennyd »

I've been using the ESR version for a long while, and I prefer the ESR due to the update frequency of the regular FF versions.

That said, I've been playing with FF 57.0 (64 bit portable version) and find that it really is faster and would like to download and install it as my installed version of FF. But before doing so I have some questions:

1) I'd like to rid my my profile of any un-needed stuff. So one way to do this (I think) is to create a 57.0 blank profile and then over copy some of my old 52.5.0 ESR (32 bit) profile. But I have read that 57.0 will have to convert some files in my old 52 ESR profile; will that mess up in some way my copying over of those old files?

2) Is this the right stuff to copy over from my old profile to the new profile?

Files:
cert8.db
chromeappsstore.sqlite
content-prefs.sqlite
cookies.sqlite
formhistory.sqlite
key3.db
logins.json (Firefox 32 and above)
mimeTypes.rdf
permissions.sqlite
persdict.dat
places.sqlite
signons.sqlite (Firefox 31 and below)
signons3.txt (if exists)
webappsstore.sqlite

Folders:
bookmarkbackups
chrome (if it exists)
searchplugins (if it exists)

3) When FF 59 ESR becomes available, will I be able to update to that without any special hassle?

As always, thanks.
