hi
I am running FF ver 52 x x ESR and win 10
for about a week or so I notice that FF stops working occassionally. I can't even do a restart as the menu bar is grayed out during this stop interval.
After a short time it seems to come back and work again.
I do the CTRL + SHIFT + Z , and I am back in business
I have checked my add ons and extensions and nothing new or strange there
appreciate advice and suggestions
kindest thanks, cheers
peter

Re: FF stops for several minutes
g'day Dan
thank you for the link
I deleted from the profile all the placessqlite and sessionrestore files.
As the problem of hanging does occur daily, but usually later in the day after FF has been running many many hours, I won't know until tomorrow if problem is resolved
I will let you know either way
thnx, cheers

What else is going on when that happens, (start Windows task manager) AV update, something backing up system or scanning ?petergo wrote:Monty Python - Hunting Film

What does that do?I do the CTRL + SHIFT + Z , and I am back in business
Sounds like its eating CPU & until that subsides you're not able to interact with the browser.the menu bar is grayed out
Next time it happens, check CPU usage (for firefox.exe).
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Re: FF stops for several minutes
hi
ok, seems to have happened again, and about same time of day. I have the Task Manager open and FF is using about 32% of CPU but that amount seems to be the same each time I look
the CTRL + SHIFT + Z trick, restarts FF
appreciate any further suggestions please
It is happening more frequently now, it freezes for severa

Re: FF stops for several minutes
hi problem appears to be worsening
this time when it froze, I see FF is using 64% of CPU
it's getting really bad, and freezing for longer periods
and even a problem simply trying to type this message
everything else working perfectly on my desktop device
thanks, hope y'all had a gr8 Thanksgiving
cheers
