i go to options, then in the search box i put "cache", which brings me to cached web content, i check the box that says "overide cache management" then where it says "limit cache to:" and i change 1024MB to 5000 MB of space. then if go back later it is back to 1024 MB. it doesnt stay at 5000.

thanks

If you change other Prefs, are those change retained after browser restart?

yes, i have just changed the home page and it retained after browser restart.

are you able to raise your cache limit to over 1024 and have it stay after restart?

It appears that (FF 52) is limiting cache (browser.cache.disk.capacity) to 1024 (1048576).

You can see that "interactively"
In about:preferences#advanced, change the override to 5000.
Switch to a different tab, then immediately switch back.
You should see that it has set the value to 1024.

Why are you wanting a higher limit?
Thinking that the higher limit won't give you what you want in any case.
And FF probably has leeway too, where the "1024" isn't set in stone, but other factors can come into play affecting what happens with "cache".
