Hi,
What he means is, that if you update to Firefox v57, all your "old/er" extensions will fail to function.
You will have to see if any have been updated to the new "webext" extensions.

So, keep your current profile backed up somewhere safe.
If you do NOT like the new version, you can always go back, but check the forum for more info.

Give this a try to stop selected addons from notifying updates. I have it set at 12 hours. Stays good after a FF restart, but eventually all the addons listed not to check eventually come back. Might try experimenting with longer than 12 hours. Still better than not having it. (I also don't need to know about the latest Stylish, which is meant for FF 57.)
If you find a setting that lasts longer without sacrificing notifications for wanted updates, I'd like to know about it.

Also from the gear, make sure addons are not set to update automatically.

Try unchecking "Check on startup." Might give better results.

Without that checked I was concerned that it wouldn't pick up any new updates. To test, installed an older version of NoScript, and the update to the newer one was picked up immediately--didn't have to wait 12 hours. So far, so good. Nothing's returned...yet.
