I'm using Firefox version 57.0.2 on Windows 10. Somehow, I've gotten some malware that appears to use the popup blocker to redirect me to a bad site. Normally, it tries to redirect me to redemotoructs.co, but occasionally it redirects me to something really nasty.
I've reinstalled Firefox several times. Neither trendmicro's malware detection software nor Windows Defender find anything. So, what do I do next, besides load Linux and have done with it?

Re: Firefox redirector malware
First, uninstalling and reinstalling the application itself has absolutely no impact on your Profile, which is where saved preferences like your home page and user selected settings reside, and where most problems arise. Unless you have also removed the original Firefox profile, the problem could still be in that data.
Second, install and run these programs, consecutively, not simultaneously.

If these don't find it or can't clear it, post in one of these forums for specialized malware removal help:

Re: Firefox redirector malware
So the first thing I did was to remove the profile. When firefox started up, I allowed it to re-sync. Would that resync the problem as well? If so, have I completely lost all my bookmarks, passwords, and pretty much everything I need?

I'm having the same issue with these redirections.
Same Firefox version 57.0.2 also on Windows 10.
Will follow instructions...

Without being sure of the source of the redirect it would be impossible to say whether the synch would bring back the problem.Would that resync the problem as well?

Just Save your Profile locally / on Ext Drive(s) [ Daily / Often ] to Protect against the disaster you cite.Quakeboy02 wrote:So the first thing I did was to remove the profile. When firefox started up, I allowed it to re-sync. Would that resync the problem as well?

OK, I just gave up and did a full system restore keeping my files. I've gone to only a handful of sites, none of them should be candidates for malware, and yet, I'm back to square one. It almost seems like the problem is actually my.yahoo.com
