I switched from Chrome to FF because of image display problems with Chrome. But now I find that when I try to download a PDF file in FF I can't find a way to make it ask me where I want to save it. The options menu doesn't provide a solution and googling the problem doesn't either. I would appreciate any suggestions.

You can right click on the link for the PDF and select "Save link as".
Or see this article -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_an ... ad_actions

Click on Tools menu, click on Options. In the GENERAL menu, scroll down to downloads, select "Always ask you where to save files." Along this line, in the list of applications, make sure that PDF is set to "always ask."
