Firefox download

Post by TooMarvelous »

After a thorough clean up from a browser attack that ate my Firefox, I tried downloading and installing it again. Many times.
I've uninstalled, deleted every mention of it, and reinstalled more times than I can remember. I've run 3 scans various times, the machine is clean, but Firefox won't work. Twice it gave me a crash report which I dutifully sent in. I tried installing an older vs (57) and it does the same thing. It appears to be downloading and installing, but when it opens, if you can get it to open, there is no Logo on the page, and it doesn't seem to all be there. Under the menu, there are no options. It has the bookmarks, but nothing else. I've tried typing in a url, clicking it to go, and nothing happens. I've checked my user profile, it's okay. I'm using a manual av, so it doesn't need permission from that. I use enigmatic spy catcher, to which I give permission to allow download of FF. I've tried to reach someone at Mozilla to no avail. I've read all the bits in support, and as best I can figure out, nothing applies to my problem. I've always used FF. Just last week it was working, if a little oddly. I don't know how long one can have a browser hacker on your machine before you see the event, but as this is the 3rd time for me, I think it may be on for a while before the browser's gone. I'm so frustrated I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions or comments would be great. Please.

seems to be this unknown crap
http://www.tenebril.com/products/

uninstall for testing purpose, restart windows
if that helps - go http://support.tenebril.com/

but as far i read this product is out of business since 2008 - a decade ago.

I answered this and then saved a draft. I don't know if it posted or not, so I'll answer it again.

The crash reports were submitted, with details, at the time they came up.

create a new profile
I don't understand where the new profile should be.
I'll read the links below and see if it clears it up.

But the URLs were not posted here where we can see them.

I have followed your instructions and it has not changed anything :(

It acts like it's missing some of its components or something.
What else can I do?

What security software is running on that system? Antivirus? Firewall?
And please post the URLs from the crash reports here for review.

If you've followed the instructions then where are the crash reports links that you have submitted here?

Enigmatic's Spy Hunter, which ran also the last 2 times I had to reinstall FF. It always asks me to give permission and I do.

Antivirus?
None runs all the time. I have to manually update and run it.

Firewall?
I think it's Windows, but I don't remember. Tell me how to find it and I will.

And please post the URLs from the crash reports here for review.

....the crash report just came up, I'm trying to copy it, but so far it hasn't worked.
Trying one more thing....
I just can't paste it in here. I have a copy in my photos, it should be able to insert it in an email, if you'll give me an address.
There is No address on it that I can see, just the standard blue&grey little window that pops up.
If there is somewhere else to look, let me know and I'll go there.

I'm limping here because so much won't work. Please be patient with me. I'm nearly 80, good with computers, but
no pro like you guys are.

This report also contains technical information about the state of the application when it crashed.

Is this what you wanted?

No, that is no help...
1. In the address/url bar enter: about:crashes
2. There you should see a link to entries that are your crash-reports (example: bp-07dbf70f-29cb-4924-a38f-d49120180222)
3. Right-click the top 2 or 3 (one at a time) and use: Copy Link Location...
4. Come back to this thread and 'Paste' that link(s) into this thread.

You don't understand, there is Nothing in the address bar. The address bar doesn't work, nothing else in the program works.
I don't know where else to go to find out what's wrong. It's like it's the frame of the program but nothing's in it. Click on the menu, and none of the
selections under it has anything there except perhaps the bookmarks which it got from somewhere (from when I exported them to Chrome?)
I wish I could reach someone at the company, but that seems to be impossible.
Do you have any other suggestions?

I clicked on each of them for the details, but FF isn't bringing anything up :(
Is there some way I can go in another way and get them? Would I see them in whatever kind of FF directory may be there?

Thanks
