Re: Firefox download
Would the config.msi file have anything to do with the mis-installation? I'm afraid to mess with it, not knowing

Re: Firefox download
this is strange from your crash rep
you cant run firefox 58 under xp compatibility, never possible.
guess why you have set up this way, it never was wise nor solved it problems.
but windows 7 x86 is current, and your graphics driver is also latest but very ancient
are you running firefox in compatibility mode?"os": {
"name": "Windows_NT",
"version": "5.1",
"locale": "en-US",
"servicePackMajor": 2,
"servicePackMinor": 0,
"windowsBuildNumber": 2600,
"installYear": 2013
},

Re: Firefox download
I don't understand the crash report and what seems strange. The machine was refurbished and Win 7 was put on here in 2013. Does that help?
I am not accomplished enough to know about not running firefox in compatibility mode or not, but I presume everything is set as it has been for the last 5 years -- unless the Trojan could have changed things. So if I read your post correctly I need to try to update my drivers and change the compatibility to 7 X86?
Please confirm and I will try to do it. And thank you.

Re: Firefox download
I cannot find an option for 7 X86 in the compatibility list. Would it be XP Svc Pk 3? Or should I go up to Windows Server 2003 Svc Pk1; or Windows Server
2008 Svc Pk 1?
However, as I say, until the Trojan hit me, FF was running well on XP Svc Pk 2.

Re: Firefox download
not your part - our partI don't understand the crash report
did you install windows 7 from scratch - after formatting the partition and check with antivirus boot-cd before?until the Trojan hit me
i have doubt your system is clean - means: is still infected. it makes no sense to solve firefox problems before windows is not clean.
i suggest you to carry your computer to a pc specialist or local vendor to check that up. due to your age this part of technology is too complicated for you to solve it yourself.
compatibility mode - see yourself

leave it untouched, not activated, like the image show!

Re: Firefox download
I couldn't even find the FF page you are showing for compatibility mode.
Thank you for all your help. I can't bring it in to someone until Friday, so if you think of anything else, I'm
happy to try it.

Right-click on the Icon you use to 'Start Firefox' on your desktopTooMarvelous wrote:I couldn't even find the FF page you are showing for compatibility mode.

Click on 'Properties'
Click on the 'Comparability Tab'
In the middle there is a 'Run in compatibility mode, there should be NO check in the box.

Glad your working again. Thanks also to 'Brummelchen' for spotting the wrong User Agent and asked initially about running in Compatibility Mode.
Happy Birthday !
