A refresh of Firefox leaves it useless.

Post by southwestforests »

Okay, so I'm coming in a couple years later. Firefox has been very slow today and the last couple days while Chrome, Edge, ie, are all moving along just fine; therefore something is wrong with Firefox, not with my system.
Looked in to the refresh option, Googled for more and this came up.
My health is a mess and this is enough work to full discourage me from refreshing Firefox.
Guess I'll just use the other browsers and open Firefox every so often to see if it might have updated and fixed itself.

A few points in response.

1. It seems you may not have read through other threads on this forum that affirmed that the "Reset" process is not ideal for casual users. There are other procedures which can be used without the potential confusion arising with the "Reset".

2. Waiting to see if Firefox "might have updated and fixed itself" would be pointless as the likely source of your performance issues is not in the program but in the Firefox profile. To confirm that, Firefox can be tested in Mozilla Safe Mode and/or a new profile can be created but in a way that leaves the original profile intact and accessible:

Have you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
If no improvement using Safe Mode, do you have the same problem if you create a new profile and test it with no extensions or non-default themes installed?
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager
and
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a_ne ... on_Windows

3. We're not Mozilla. This forum is not run by or formally associated with Mozilla. We're an independent user-helping-user community. So, at the end of the day, which browser a user chooses to use is not of critical importance to us.

Right now I'm more interested in how what I posted as a comment in a thread appears to have become its own thread.

Posting to a thread that died more than two years ago is going to result in that.
