FF 59 no longer seeing option to prevent page redirects

Post by kukla »

Could have started in FF57, but after updating to 59 this is the first time I'm noticing it. Used to be in Preferences>Advanced>Accessibility, then moved to Privacy & Security, I believe, but not finding this option in the current Preferences UI anywhere.

accessibility.blockautorefresh is set to true, but has no effect.

EDIT: still working in my 52esr.

This is the site which wants to do the meta refresh--definitely gets stopped from auto reloading with my 52esr.

https://www.santander.co.uk/uk/current- ... nt-account

EDIT 2: does sometimes seem to be working. E.g, works here--no idea why it isn't being blocked at the URL above, where my 52esr stops it.

Very different blocking appearance with the 52esr (I have Refresh Blocker there, but upon disabling it, this redirect was still blocked.) Wondering what might account for the difference?

Your post reveals a serious deficiency in critical thinking skills. Thank you very much, but please do me a big favor and don't respond to any future requests for help or information.

FWIW I have

accessibility.blockautorefresh -> true

using FF59.0 on Mac 10.13.3 and DO NOT see pages auto refreshing.

Whew, thanks. Will have to look further into this then. Have you tried that one at Santander? Is that redirect blocked? Besides that setting in about:config, are you seeing anything in the Preferences UI for that?

When going to the Santander site using your link I get a static page called "1|2|3 Lite Current Account". It does not change over a number of minutes.

With regard to

there does not seem to be anything in the Preferences.

So then I take it that you're not seeing this (from my esr):

If not, that would be the same behavior I'm seeing in my 59. Perhaps the 59 doesn't render that site the same way as my esr, and my 59 is behaving normally.

Interesting. With that about:config [accessibility.blockautorefresh] set to true I see this at a site I go to using FF59.0

This is the site which wants to do the meta refresh--definitely gets stopped from auto reloading with my 52esr.

Code: Select all

https://www.santander.co.uk/uk/current-accounts/123-lite-current-account
If you have JavaScript blocked when you load that URL, then the page tries to "roll over" to a "no javascript" page:

Code: Select all

https://www.santander.co.uk/uk/web/santanderuk/current-accounts/123-lite-current-account?p_v_l_s_g_id=0&p_l_id=464701&jsActive=false
That "roll over" is blocked by accessibility.blockautorefresh on my end (SeaMonkey 2.49 aka FF 52).
(Can't say at present if the same holds true in FF 59?)
