ePub extension: Black screen only except for cover.

Post by FrankSMS »

So apparently this extension is supposed to work offline. (epubread.com)
It doesn't seem to work. I can display the cover but after I hit pagedown I just get a black screen. The popup menu bar works on the bottom but I can't read anything. I've tried numerous books. Has anyone tried this? Using latest Firefox.

Note that the copyright date on the bottom of the ePburead.com web site is 2009, and that the last date reflected on the blog page was 2011. It's quite possible that that add-on is no longer compatible with current versions of Firefox. At this point your best bet would seem to be to email the author at the contact Gmail address offered on the Addons web site.

Oh wow....never noticed that. Probably out of date as you say. Thanks.

What a useful add-on! It's a lot quicker than firing up Calibre.

The latest version (2.0.5) was Released July 20, 2017. The add-on is 'featured' and claims compatibility with FF59. However, I grabbed version 1.5.0.12 as the last version compatible with FF52 which works fine.

I just get a black screen after I've moved past the cover. Wish it worked. Maybe something else is interfering with its operation on my system. I'm in Win7.

Try disabling hardware acceleration -- Tools->Options->scroll down to "Performance"->uncheck "Use recommended performance settings->uncheck "Use hardware acceleration when available." Shut down and restart Firefox and test an ePub file again.
