So when I was running 52ESR i was sharing one profile folder between macOS, Debian and Windows 10.

When I opened FF it was like I had never left. Since I went Quantum this is now like something that happened in a dream.

Why has this changed been made?

Care to provide a bit more detail about your issue so we have a chance of understanding what you are objecting to?

I believe the original poster is looking for a solution for the following problem.

sharing profiles across WinOS and not-WinOS was also not possible pre-Quantum. there has been no change in files nor extensions.ini
btw extensions.ini has been phased out in quantum - its now extensions.json and contains also fixed path.

(within windows firefox is capable to adjust path in json when copying a profile)

as i said, i was doing this on 52ESR across linux, windows and macos without issue.

i didn't have to re-enable any add-ons

and it would open in each os wherever i last was in the previous os i booted

so you did try running the same profile across different distros in ff52?

edit - in fact i have just installed the latest esr for both windows and linux

i was in windows. added extensions (one of them being tabmix plus)

when i installed in linux, i opened with firefox --profilemanager and pointed it to the directory for the windows install

it opened with exavtly the session i finished with and the same add-ons enabled
