Why Are Several Lines in About:Config Modified?

Post by skuddle »

I just looked at my About:Config file and noticed that several lines have been modified (i.e. shown in black). I didn't mofify anything in my config file and was wondering how those lines became modified...

Hi,
Which particular "lines" are bolded ?
May check each one?

I believe that they, the relevant ones, will be bolded if you change anything from the default/s in the UI,
such as your Text selections, Bookmarks location, where you save files to, any mod/s that an extension makes...etc., etc.,
without you actually going into the "about:config" page.

Some about:config entries can be created and/or modified by installed extensions.

There are some preferences that are installation specific (for instance, where to store your downloads, path to your profile folder, etc). What are the preferences you are worried about?

:?: That link tells me that there is currently no text on the page. Are you sure none of the link is missing?

Generally - but not always, a emboldened entry is a change that a "user" made.

"Not always", in older days, changes made or added by extensions.

And then even outside of that, some settings that FF itself sets, like perhaps, gfx.crash-guard.status.d3d11layers.
Some things FF can't know until it actually runs & queries the underlying system it is run on.
And once it knows, it can then set associated Prefs, & in doing so, they're emboldened.
Fire 750, bring back 250.
