No URL in Google search result

Post by Hans L »

Today, URLs at the bottom of the Google search result summary disappeared in both my wife's and my Firefox. Is this Google crap or a Firefox issue?

Thanks for clarification, should you know.

Have you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
If no improvement using Safe Mode, do you have the same problem if you create a new profile and test it with no extensions or non-default themes installed?

URLs at the bottom of the Google search result summary
What do you mean by that?

I searched on "Helena" (arbitrarily) and got this (one of many):

--------------------------------------------
Helena - Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helena

Helena may refer to: Contents. [hide]. 1 Places. 1.1 United States; 1.2 Canada. 2 People; 3 Films; 4 Literature; 5 Music; 6 Ships; 7 Science; 8 Other uses; 9 See ...
‎Helena, AL · ‎Helena, Montana · ‎Helena (song) · ‎Helena, Texas
-------------------------------------------

Up till today, the last line would have been

http:/www.xxxxx.com

(a URL)

I take it you still see the URLs. I will try what you have suggested, and report back.

Started in Safe Mode. No change. Created a new profile. No change.

Noticed that I see no URLs when using IE either.

Is this a Cleveland problem? :-) :-)

Well, the URLs are back. But not when I tried the above, but when I started a later session. Funny, but something much have "released". Thank you, DanRaisch. However, my short memory is for s-t ... the URLs are right below the headings of the brief descriptions of hits (but they were gone, nevertheless).

Google routinely conducts research experiments on users of its services. Usually you can escape the experiment either by flushing Google cookies or logging out of your account. But some could be more persistent.
