Windows 7
Firefox ver 61.0.1 (64-bit)
Clicking any icon on desktop for a particular page I have saved to that icon will open that page and the previously opened page and at times the last two opened pages as well in a new tab.
If I have a page opened and double click another icon on desktop that page will open alone in a new tab.
At times when I click on Firefox tray icon the default page I have set up in settings doesn't open but a previously opened page does. If I click on the tray icon for Firefox again it will then open the default i have setup. At times it will open three pages in new windows.
This situation started a week ago.

(Probably not it, but...)
What does your desktop shortcut show?
Are you using the -no-remote switch?
I'm thinking an association in the Windows Registry has been changed?
What is your Home Page set to?

The Firefox icon target is "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
Not familiar with -no-remote switch and no info googling it
Home page set to https://www.google.com

could have been a matter of wrong settings or extensions.
a view to the about:support report for us should had helped with out refreshing.
any how you will find you old profile on the desktop now.
