Firefox had been working perfectly, but just recently some websites (ones I had regularly visited before) would not load, or took a very long time to load, and some that did load never seemed to finish loading with the dot on the tab continually moving. Also I have experienced odd behaviours with some sites where I have to click the re-load button a couple of times to get them to display correctly - Gmail being one of them.

I have restarted Firefox in safe mode and the problem goes away. So I decided to create a new profile and start afresh slowly adding items to see what, if anything, was causing the problem. Initially it all seemed fine but now the problem has started to reappear.

Add-ons I use are:
Adblock +
NoScript
Bitwarden
Kaspersky Protection.

All of which I had been running previously without problems. Websites that cause problems in Firefox load perfectly in Chrome so it appears to be a browser problem, but I can't think what.

Any ideas?

What version of NoScript?
If not the latest, currently 10.1.8.16, update to that & see if it helps?
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.19) Gecko/20110420 SeaMonkey/2.0.14 Pinball CopyURL+ FetchTextURL FlashGot NoScript

Thanks. I have just had a look and it is the latest version of NoScript - 10.1.8.16.

The Gmail page appears to have only two scripts - google.com and gstatic.com - both of which are trusted.

It's just a bit odd that it started all of a sudden. As far as I am aware nothing had been updated, and it was working fine up until a couple of days ago.

Uninstall kaspersky (use remover after), wd is enough!

i have to quote myself again, sorry Limpet. But experience has pointed out that kaspersky (or any other 3rd-party antivirus) is pain on windows 10 and cause more issues than it resolves.

provide some information please (text, not raw)
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/us ... ix-firefox

test firefox in safe-mode please:

Thank you for your unhelpful suggestion about removing Kaspersky - I definitely won't be doing that!

If you had read my original post you would see that it had been fine (with Kaspersky) and nothing, as far as I am aware, had been updated, so I can only assume some part of Firefox has become corrupted but I don't know what. Also I said I had tested it in safe mode and all seemed fine - which is why I created a new profile.

If you are going to reply to people's threads then please read and understand what they have said.

I have read carefully. But what you wont accept is that kaspersky has more impact on firefox than chrome. And if firefox did not change than your system is causing this. Chrome seems not affected so the issue is to search near kaspersky. Thats major experience if you believe or not.

What about the other 2 items i gave you, are you going to provide and test?

URLs?
Are they all https: ("secure") websites? Any http: sites also affected.

Some that did load never seemed to finish loading with the dot on the tab continually moving

That definitely has happened with a number of older NoScript versions, but current version seems to be OK.

I'd definitely test with Kaspersky Protection browser extension disabled & see if that changes things?

It seems to be mainly secure sites - Gmail is particularly bad as I have to reload that page a number of times to get it to display correctly.

Thanks I will try that to see if it makes any difference. It had been running fine up until last weekend and then suddenly all this started. Unless something happened in the background that I wasn't aware of I can't think what caused it.

I think I have tracked it down to NoScript - If I disable that extension everything seems to work fine.

I saw this on their website as the latest bug fix - "Fixed random stallings on page transitions (thanks sage11, Brush and pbelleisle for reporting)". That is the exact symptoms I am experiencing so apparently for me it's not fixed.

Update:
I have been checking their forum and it seems I am not the only one experiencing this problem - https://forums.informaction.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=25082

Hopefully they will work on a fix.
