Hi, ever since a couple of updates ago, I've been getting a black background for many websites, camouflaging the text on the page. For example http://www.ttc.ca/ It looks messed up in firefox. Anyone have any idea? Thanks.

Background of that site is white when I view it.

Have you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
If no improvement using Safe Mode, do you have the same problem if you create a new profile and test it with no extensions or non-default themes installed?

I fixed it. I had to do a refresh, now everything works fine. Weird, what could have possibly caused that? By the way, I think your instructions are archaic. It's sufficient to just do a refresh to create a new profile. Thanks anyhow.

Not archaic at all, just more cautious.

Refresh has an unfortunate side effect: In addition to creating a new profile it moves all of the old data. Many users, who wanted to transfer data from the old profile to the new, were extremely upset to find that the old profile was not where they expected to find it. Creating a new profile, instead of Refreshing, provides the new profile but leaves the old data right were it was and allows a user switch between the old and new profiles. They can even to revert to that old profile if the new profile doesn't resolve whatever problem they were experiencing.

...I guess... but mozilla themselves promote a refresh when things go sour, don't they?

And they don't have to live with the results of the refresh.

Note that this might have been caused by the default color settings and the background might have been set to black.

Options/Preferences -> General: Fonts & Colors -> Colors
