This is to notify all FF users about a very important change with the new FF Quantum 61.0.2 (64-bit) update. I found out by accident. I was disabling some of my add-ons because I was trying out various ones that are similar.

I posted not too long ago to find out if "Save in" is truly a serious security issue, but no one replied, so I kept using it.

Lo and behold, a few days ago after disabling it, I found out the add-on that I was using called "Save in" that would continually produce security warnings from Avast and FF is no longer needed!! No more annoying security dialogs and worrying about getting hacked!

FF devs have finally done the wise thing and now allows the user to save a DL file anywhere they want! =D>

In previous versions, FF would only allow you to DL to the Downloads folder. Hence the reason for the now non-compliant Legacy add-on "Save File to", (which had a lot of extra features that the current version doesn't have) https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... e-file-to/ and the now Quantam version, "Save In". https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... src=search that I thankfully no longer have to use.

Not so. That was only one of the options available. Firefox has offered "Always ask where to save files" for quite some time.

Hi Dan, I reread the threads regarding this issue to refresh my memory. Now I remember that the initial issue had to do with a symlink pointing to a drive. Then later it morphed into me not being able to save where I wanted, then when that was fixed, it still wouldn't allow a file to be saved to a drive without creating a folder.

So far, with the new version I've been able to save to a drive without it creating a folder. However, it still creates a folder when using JDownloader. I'll have to look into the JD settings to see if I can change that behavior.

Here are the threads I started that addressed the issue.

First time I posted about it. viewtopic.php?f=38&t=3035458

You bound a problem with "save in" to firefox. Mozilla is neither nor responsible for extensions or messages from antivirus.

What you might have missed that firefox is capable to store anywhere and save this place for current domain and offer this place again first, since several builds.
