copy unformatted text

is there a way to copy text from web pages unformatted to be used in other applications on the computer?
I tried several addons that claim allowing to do so, but that don't work.

Several of the apps/programs I copy INTO support pasting unformatted text via ctrl-sift-v.

had/have that one installed. either it doesn't work, or I'm not able to use it.
I tried to copy via F8, but when pasting, the text is still formatted

You can always copy the web page text and paste it into Notepad. That will leave it format-free. Then you can copy it out of Notepad to another application (and reformat it yourself...) That's what I do when other means do not work.
