Can not open webpage with Firefox

Post by Sonnie »

We have two computers setup identically with Firefox 62.0 64-bit.

One computer can open a website address fine, while the other just gives us a blank page.

However... the computer that the site will not open on Firefox, will open that same site on Chrome or IE with no problem.

I have cleared cookies and cache on the computer that the site won't open.

Any ideas what could be causing it?

URL?

As a test, create a new, clean Profile, load the site, & ... ?
Fire 750, bring back 250.

It does open with the new profile, so how will that help me resolve the issue of it not opening on default profile?

If I import all my settings, bookmarks, etc... nothing really changes does it?

Well, you don't have Import everything.
Just do your Bookmarks/History & Passwords 1st & run it for a while.

(The only Benelli I knew of, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bene ... orange.jpg. 6-cylinder. Almost bought one ages ago.)

setup identically
As a test, copy the "bad" Profile to the other computer (into a different Profile - not your existing) & open that.
Does Benelli open?

(I would think something along the lines of... cookies... Private Browsing... Tracking Protection...)

You also could do a "mini-reset" on the regular profile by renaming the prefs.js file to prefsOLD.js (while Firefox is closed).

Will that cause me to loose anything?

Exactly, the reason you rename the file to prefsOLD.js instead of deleting it is, if you need to research something in the file or roll back to it, you still have the file.

The prefs.js file contains custom settings you could find in about:config, your pinned/blocked tiles on the new tab page, and various other data.

I had actually already did the new profile and imported most everything needed, and it that page loads fine now.

Thanks for everyone's assistance.
