Re: Selective profile xfer
Copying places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite will get your bookmarks. Copying the subfolder extensions will copy your extensions, but it will NOT keep their settings. In order to keep extension settings you would have to copy other things, I am not sure exactly which, possibly including prefs.js, many that might defeat the purpose of a new profile.

Re: Selective profile xfer
that could be difficult if you dont know names and folders - most of them are not in plain text, more like a long random string.Addon extensions (options are already set the way I want them)
and some of them have settings in that folder, others have a database in another folder.
best way really - is to copy the whole folder
from
%appdata%Mozilla (which is c:\users\<username>\appdata\roaming\Mozilla)
and do uninstall what is not needed.

Re: Selective profile xfer
Extension preferences are no longer stored in prefs.js.
Where you ask?
That's a good question & I don't think there is a straight forward answer to that.
There is one location, that always escapes me, that (I believe) all extensions are able to use, but with that, an extension may or may not use it, & if they don't they store their settings elsewhere, which AFAIK could be arbitrary.
(Isn't advancement great .)

Re: Selective profile xfer
While good in principle, in practice, less so.
In practice.
That is going on the premise that you, the user, want to be able to (easily) see & manipulate your data, your (extension) preference settings.
prefs.js is a text file.
Easy for a (human) to search & modify.
Where extensions currently store their data is not particularly known & is likely in some sort of binary file (be it .sqlite or whatever) that hardly lends itself to examination much less manipulation.
storage-sync.sqlite vs. prefs.js
NoScript 10 Needs UI for Viewing/Editing xssUserChoices
And then one needs to realize that xyz extension is storing its' prefs in "storage-sync.sqlite".
As it is, everyone "knows" prefs.js, there is a KB article for it.
Few know storage-sync.sqlite.
PS: uBlock does not store its settings in storage-sync.sqlite (so just where does it store it?) .
(Eh, not 100% on that, & can't check presently.)
