Some elements and buttons don't have open in new tab option
I recently switched from Chrome to Firefox and I've noticed some buttons, like a search button on a website, and other elements I can't control click to have it open in a new tab. When I right click there's also no option to open in a new tab. I do remember in Chrome I had no problem opening the same things in a new tab. Is there any way to do this in firefox?

Reddit, for example: https://www.reddit.com/search
You can control click in chrome on the magnifying glass to search or right click on it and open in a new tab is an option, but doesn't work with firefox. I've tried with no add-ons and running in safe mode as I had seen that as a suggestion elsewhere, but no luck that way either.
Edit: Or even the "Go" button on this site on the search sidebar. Control click won't work on firefox, but does on chrome.

As far as I'm aware you cannot right click in a text field to open in a new tab. This is the normal behaviour for FF, Safari and Opera. From my testing it also is the behaviour in Chrome.
I tried control click and command click (I'm on a Mac) and no such option. Normally control/command click or right click only offers a new tab option on links.

I made an example of what I mean here:

When I control click on chrome it opens the results in a new tab, whereas it does not in firefox. Just wondering if it is possible to get firefox to do the same behavior.

As I noted above control/command click in a text box search field does not offer an option to open in a new tab for FF, Safari, Opera or Chrome. Your example is quite difficult to see.
Opening in a new tab is only available for links.

The imgur link works the same for me in Chrome and Firefox.
left click = opens url in current tab
ctrl + left click = opens url in new tab in background
There is a open link in new tab context menu item when I right click on the link.
Firefox Portable 62.0.3
Windows 7 SP1 32-bit

Try testing with a new profile.msan21 wrote:I've tried with no add-ons and running in safe mode as I had seen that as a suggestion elsewhere, but no luck that way either.

I saw a similar question on Reddit. How about this add-on:
