Anyway to get this addon to open new tabs for addons.mozilla.org too ?

Anytime I go there it uses the current tab instead of a new tab. Thanks.

As noted on the add-on page, you can just change browser.urlbar.openintab to true in about:config in Fx 60 and on.

The reason the add-on does not work for addons.mozilla.org is because extensions are turned off for mozilla domains as a security precaution to prevent addons from doing anything nefarious on mozilla properties.

You can use the classic workarounds for Windows, depending on how you use the address bar:

* If you usually press Enter, hold down the Alt key while pressing Enter
* If you usually click the arrow button, hold Down the Ctrl key while clicking the arrow button

to send the URL (or search) to a new tab.

The Add-ons site (AMO) has the magical ability to read AND enable (if they are disabled) AND remove your currently installed add-ons. If you enable extensions on AMO, they probably will be able to trigger those actions, so I don't recommend it.
