I'm using FF 63 under Ubuntu 16.04 o/s.
Over the last 10 days or so it has stopped working as well as it used to.
I'll try to enter numbers, or click an execute button on one of my tabs, and the tab will be inert - it won't do anything. I've tried closing the tab, opening a new one and seeing if I can get it to work on the same web page, and it does.
I've tried closing all the FF windows, and then looking at the System Monitor only to see a FF entry there using ~ 300 MiB. I kill it, reopen FF, and everything works ok, for a while.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: Firefox tab problem
Have you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
If no improvement using Safe Mode, do you have the same problem if you create a new profile and test it with no extensions or non-default themes installed?

This is not a constant problem, it comes and goes. I tried safe mode for a while and everything worked ok.DanRaisch wrote:Have you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

I only run one extension: Ublock.
The webpages I have had the most problem with (the tab just sits blank with a symbol showing it's trying to load) are various NOAA pages, weather, climate, national highs lows.
It happened again this morning, I opened up Chrome and everything ran right.
Ubuntu is my o/s, maybe I should go to Chrome as my default.

If you post a specific URL where you find the problem we can try it ourselves to see if we get the same issue.

If you're working off the old NOAA http page instead of the https page (bookmarked) it could be it takes a little while to transfer over to the https.
I've noticed the Noaa sits, appears to take longer depending on traffic, sometimes a half minute while the page is blank until the load.
If you have your location in the map section bookmarked they are in process of making changes.
Try starting here and see if it's better Weather.gov

Doesn't matter what you say, it's wrong for a toaster to walk around the house and talk to you

As mentioned, this is sometimes, not always, it sits there with a blank page with the loading symbol going on and on. Here's two problem pages.
https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.p ... n=-104.992
https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/discussio ... sc=nathilo
Other problems - sometimes FF will load a page that looks ok, but you can't get any response from clicking on a button or link on it. And, last April, I was trying to use the Colorado tax website, and FF couldn't enter any numbers in the entry blanks, Chrome did fine.
Sometimes when I close all the FF windows FF will still show up in System Monitor with about 300 Mib - if I kill that and restart FF, it works fine for a while.
I use just 1 extension: Ublock.
