Ah.. but to use the side bar, my bookmarks are often 3 deep and they don't spring closed after you use one like the toolbar does, darn.
Finally: any idea on my original question wh, when I use the traditional method to save a bookmark, a folder is expanded when it should not be?

I can't answer that. I just don't use the "Save a New Bookmark" feature at all and these days I save very few new bookmarks overall.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Mine has wandered off and I'm out looking for it.

Any guess Ed? Why would in the box folders be expanded when they are closed outside?

Overall, my feeling is that the Mozilla developers don't care enough to make any sense with the actions for what folders are being displayed. Not that those actions really ever "made sense" IMO, but now the actions seem to be totally illogical.
