Add-Ons: Need auto refresh for a link. How to describe?
I don't know the name to search for. I need an add-on that auto refreshes part of a page by activating a link on the page. Its just refreshing a frame on the page, not the whole page. Normally you would left click the link. I just tried the "Super Auto Refresh" add-on and it seems to work well for the whole page or tab. It seems like it could be used for just a linked frame when you right click the link but unfortunately it refreshes the whole page. Not sure why they offered the right click option if it does the whole page.
There are 2 tabs on that frame. The one that is automatically displayed when the page is initially loaded or refreshed is not the one I need. So I first click that tab, then click the refresh button. I need to automatically left click that refresh button.

Open the frame into its own tab, then refresh just that tab?
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Its part of the page and can't be detached....I think. Can't think of how to do it. When it is refreshed manually only that frame refreshes. The rest of the page is left intact. If I right click the frame and click the reload icon the whole page refreshes. So the link that refreshes the frame is just refreshing the data in that frame. I sure hope that makes sense....

I've revised the original post to make things more clear. I had forgotten something regarding 2 tabs on that frame. See above.

Did you mean 2 frames on that tab?FrankSMS wrote:2 tabs on that frame
That works fine with a "Disqus Comments" frame.therube wrote:Open the frame into its own tab, then refresh just that tab?
@FrankSMS
How to open the frame into its own tab.
* right click on the frame
* left click the "Open Frame in New Tab" menu item in the "This Frame" menu
I would create a userscript to solve the problem.

(Doesn't FF have a 'open frame in new tab/window' context-menu item?)

When I right click on this frame from hell the window that opens is the same as if I right click on a blank area of the page. You get the left/right navigation arrows, the refresh button and the star/bookmark thing on the top. Below that is:
Save Page As
Save Page as Pocket
....
....
a few more down to
Inspect Element
Block Element (this may be part of an extension)
I sure wish I knew something about web design so I could describe this better!

Is it possible to upload an image for everyone to see here? I mean on this site? Of course its possible on photo sites but I don't use any right now. I just thought I might be able to do it here. It would have made this description a whole lot better because of my lack of website vocabulary.

Here is a screenshot of the "Open Frame in New Tab" menu item on a test page.

In mine there is nothing between "Select All" and "View Page Source".
See photo. Not sure how to send a direct link. You may have to click "EXAMPLES".

@FrankSMS
If you are not seeing the "This Frame" menu, then that means the mouse pointer is not on a frame.

The comments are in a FRAME & can be opened in a tab.

Here's an example from the problem page. I can't show the entire thing because my account number is on there and I don't know how to black out part of a .png image. Maybe somebody here knows. Anyway you can see the area I'm trying to refresh with part of the refresh button at the top right corner. The only way to see this page is to have an account with Qtrade.ca otherwise I'd just send a link to that area of their website. So it looks like this is not a frame. Not sure what to call it. But when it refreshes the rest of the page does not change.

A pic doesn't help. I would need to examine the page with the browser developer tools to figure out a solution. I can't help you with a private website.
