can't install unsigned addons
I've tried all the about:config tricks including the about:debugging temporary addon thing but I cannot install unsigned addons on FF56. I was tired of the weird stuff in my current profile where videos would take forever to load/buffer. In certain webpages clicking on the seek bar would result in a blank popup (tab). Anyway I tried creating a new profile and as soon as I try installing TMP and Menu Editor, it says it cannot install unsigned addons. Those aren't available at mozilla anymore so i got them from third party sites.

Re: can't install unsigned addons
Addons you get from legacycollector, etc, if they are for any Firefox above 48, are almost all signed, not unsigned. Firefox will give some false messages, unless you install this fix: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... fix-52-56/
With it, most should work. It has to be installed again every time you make a new profile.
If you use modified extensions you bump yourself, or if you can find any that actually aren't signed, it is easiest to use those in a different Firefox fork that supports unsigned extensions. However, if you want to use them in Firefox, the Firefox ESR releases, even 60 ESR I believe, and 52 ESR for sure, will use them if you go to URL about:config and set xpinstall.signatures.required to false. This will not work on version 56 unless you found the "developer" version of 56 which I don't know if it exists.

Re: can't install unsigned addons
v56 is 9 month older than latest 52esr and thus it has much more vulnerabilities. and no mozilla disabled the extension signing override for reason sind (i dont know), but any final 5x.y is not able to override.

Try Classic Add-ons Archive (ca-archive).
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Re: can't install unsigned addons
Ahh- I had tried the github version but it said it prevented installation of an unverified addon. I had seen the thunderbird link, but I assumed it was only for the thunderbird program. that one worked, thanks.
