If you want to disable the portion of Avast that gives extension warnings, instructions are here. https://techdows.com/2018/09/avast-avg- ... refox.html
Or, if you search or post on the avast forum they should give you a similar suggestion or a way to ignore a single warning.

Unfortunately, that info won't work. Avast changed the UI. I tried to find how to disable it within the UI and on the net, but to no avail. I'm leaving for the weekend and will try to see what I can find out when I get back if no one here finds the solution.

By the way, I posted a version 1.8. I don't know whether that affects the "Browser Clean Up" detection.

using windows 10 should exclude any 3rd-party antivirus which is going wild in most cases, sooner than later. AVG belongs to Avast and that was no fortune in the newer past.

the way VT works is different from a whole suite, VT do only signature scan. reputation is complete different. either their excuse is very good or some finally give a f* on such software.

Just got back from my weekend jaunt. I'll watch and report back here on whether or not the message pops up again.

Unfortunately, it just popped up again. Avast needs to straighten this out. I'll see if there's a way to get in touch with them directly through the program instead of the website.

I think that you'll have to ask in their Support forum, as noted previously...Nothing in the UI to contact them.

Maybe a search there will bring a result?

Okay thanks! You saved me the hassle of trying to figure out if it does or not. I went ahead and made a new post. Maybe now this issue will be resolved.

jscher2000, after posting in the Avast forum via the link given by LIMPET235, I received the following reply in my e-mail a couple days ago.

"Hi again,

Our specialists have been working on the problem and the provided Firefox extension is not detected by Avast anymore.

We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to contact me again."

Best Regards,
Prokop
The Avast Support Team"

And this via the forum a couple days ago.

"The detection has been cleared now today, so you should no longer see the message about the browser extension."

Since receiving the messages, the offending pop-up hasn't reared it's ugly head. So all appears to be working well and gone permanently.
