New profile again?

Post by moz666 »

Firefox ESR (68) updated itself and created new profile again, why? New profile was just recently made (due this http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... &t=3052164) so will there be new profile everytime FF gets updated?

Did it show a window that said you must create a new profile or did it just do it itself? Was the ESR 68 update done by you running an EXE, or by Firefox doing it? Was it from 68.0 to 68.0.1?
For some it will work to go in the location bar to about:profiles, launch various profiles to see if one contains the data you want, and then set that profile as the default. If you cannot launch other profiles from about:profiles and find your data, or if something goes wrong when you set the preferred one as default, the error message could help in figuring out next steps.
In some cases, making sure Firefox is not the default browser to prevent problems with how external software launch Firefox to handle links will prevent or solve the problem.

FF said new profile was made when it had updated itself from 68 to 68.0.1 (due some incompatibility or something like that). Now I got 3 profiles: current, base 68 ESR and old which was valid until 68 ESR came (been since bit over year ago (switched to ESR-version)).

All data (except ABP-list, newer profiles don't have browser-entension-data folder like ESR 60.x and older had) is back after copying stuffs from older profile to newer.

Because 'extensions.webextensions.ExtensionStorageIDB.enabled' is now set by default to true, and data is now stored under [Profile]/storage.
Good luck to recover data under [Profile]/storage in case you lose something.

won't event try, older blocklist works fine (and newer is too big mess to sort it out) just some blocks aren'tthat effective as they were and blocklist under latest profile lookslike its encrypted.
