Firefox crashed

Post by chazbc »

For some reason Firefox won;t open today it has crashed five or six times, upon trying to open it. And am now forced to use my back-up browser Vivaldi, which is not like Firefox my favorite browser. I wish Firefox get itself fixed.

I just upgraded to ver. 69.0.1 and it started crashing immediately upon opening. Same behavior in Safe Mode.

If no improvement using Safe Mode, do you have the same problem if you create a new profile and test it with no extensions or non-default themes installed?

Reading traber's post leads me to believe that Firefox is may be having a program melt down, Vivaldi is filling in for the moment, maybe wait for a Firefox update. Before go looking to change my profile

Thanks, DanRaisch. For the moment, I reverted back to 69.0. When I have some more time, I will try to upgrade again and create a clean profile. Will report back.

You're welcome to do that but as most users are not seeing the problems discussed here the likelihood is that their issues are caused by something in the profile and not in the program itself. Creating a new profile does not disrupt existing profiles in any way so there is no reason not to test with a newly created profile to see if problems are present in that new environment.

The problem seems to have fixed itself, as it is working now. Firefox has been making a lot of changes in the last few years that really don't improve its performance. It was a good browser once.

Note that Firefox from the Ubuntu repositories may behave differently.
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:69.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/69.0

Best is always first to try a reboot in case Firefox has been updated.

It was a good browser once.
And still is, problems seen by one or two users aside.
